VINTAGE PAINTED CHAMPAGNE ADVERTISEMENT got sold at live auction at $1300 (source https://bit.ly/2EbZCJE)
DESCRIPTION : “Perrier-Jouet Champagne”, oil on canvas laid to panel, in the style of 1920s Parisian outdoor ads, depicting a woman emerging from the neck of an enormous champagne bottle, which is displayed in an equally huge ice bucket in the midst of a wildly dancing crowd. In gold and black molded frame, 41″ x 31″ overall, with exposed hanging brackets. Fine condition.
👉 Seemingly, the vintage painting evokes images of Paris during La Belle Époque period (more about it in future posts) at the turn of 19th Century. This was a time of peace, prosperity, happiness, frivolity, artistry and joie de vivre associated with the French capital. And champagne which had, by that time, become synonymous with celebration and success, naturally thrived.
