India’s War Cry Roars in Germany

By Mukul Manku
The Indian heavy metal scene has another reason to celebrate.

War Cry – The Indian Metal Band

War Cry, one of India’s promising heavy metal bands, has steadily carved a niche for itself since its formation in 2017. Founded by guitarist and vocalist Tanvir Singh, the band is known for its powerful blend of groove metal, melodic death metal and black metal influences. Drawing inspiration from global heavyweights such as Lamb of God, Trivium, Behemoth and Gojira, War Cry has earned a reputation for crushing riffs, aggressive vocals and high-energy live performances.

Rusted Bullets

The first recorded release by War Cry was Rusted Bullets. The song gained significant traction within the Indian metal circuit and featured collaborations with musician Aditya Swaminathan and Skyharbor’s Keshav Dhar for mixing and mastering.

Let The Bad Times Roll

Yesterday marked another significant milestone in the band’s journey as War Cry made its German festival appearance at the Let The Bad Times Roll (LTBTR) Open Air in Emden, Germany.
The festival is a well-known gathering for metal enthusiasts and gave the Indian band an opportunity to showcase its music before a European audience. Their performance reflects the growing international recognition of India’s evolving heavy metal scene and demonstrates that Indian metal is increasingly finding a place on prestigious overseas festival line-ups.

Run Up to the Festival

In the run up to the festival, the War Cry members got together at the city of Den Haag in Netherlands. What followed was intense practice sessions at home as well as Jam Pads in Amsterdam.

Finally on the day of the event, the entire team travelled to Germany by train and further to the festival location by road.

The Performance by War Cry

For War Cry, this was more than just another concert—it was a statement that Indian heavy metal is ready to be heard on the global stage.

Epilogue

I write this post with immense pride as the father of Tanvir Singh Manku, the founder of War Cry.

As many of my readers know, my world has long revolved around wine, while Tanvir’s passion has always been heavy metal. For years, ever since he was young, I have hoped that one day our two worlds would come together in a unique collaboration—a celebration of Heavy Metal and Red Wine. That dream remains very much alive, and I hope it becomes a reality in the near future.

More than merchandise—each signature is a memory. Tanvir signs War Cry T-shirts for fans following the band’s performance in Germany.

For now, however, it is time simply to celebrate. Watching an Indian band perform on a festival stage in Germany is a moment of pride not just for our family, but for the growing Indian metal community.

And what better way to raise a toast than with a glass of Mosel Riesling, enjoyed just a few hours away from where the performance took place.

Here’s to music without borders, dreams that travel across continents, and many more milestones ahead.

Cheers!
