First Wineglitz Dinner

My wine journey started about ten years back. Prior to that I did have an exposure to wine on many social occasions as also in some official long table dinners where wine was used to raise a toast. I also used to carry wine as a gift when someone invited us to their home for a party (it’s something I still always do).

But the serious tryst with wine happened for me when I got stationed at New Delhi for a period of four continuous years. I came in contact with other wine enthusiasts in the capital city and very soon I got a chance to attend my very first wine dinner. One thing lead to the other and the growing passion for wines made me do my wine certificate courses in a quick succession. I soon had the coveted WSET3 Certificate under my belt.

Taking the WSET3 exam was certainly not easy for me back then especially with a taxing nine to five work schedule (which also was not in the hospitality industry). I had also written a blog post about this intense experience but unfortunately I lost it along with my earlier WordPress site which I somehow deleted and couldn’t recover – that’s a story for another day.

I was still some months away from taking my hardest decision in wine journey.

Organising a Wine Dinner

I had started attending most of the wine events in the city. And what impressed me the most were the wine dinners which charmed me to no end with their elegance, opulence and uniqueness.

Meanwhile my wine passion was growing rapidly and soon I found myself surrounded by a lot of wine action. I also started a couple of social media wine clubs by the name Wineglitz.

In my heart of hearts, I was now craving for something very difficult for a wine newbie to carry off : to organise my own wine dinner in the city.

Well, that was exactly I did, and pulled it off wonderfully, and which resulted in the conduct of the First Wineglitz Dinner which was a run away success with the house full with over fifty guests. Here are the pictures from the event which I hope you will like.

In hindsight, to organise this wine dinner at such a large scale, so early in my wine journey was the hardest wine related decision I ever made

My wine journey started in 2013 and I soon earned my WSET certifications in quick succession. At same time I started with writing on wines on my blog page and also got opportunities to write for renowned wine magazines in India. I’ve also written a couple of research papers on Indian wine industry. Presently I’m also tenanting the position of the President Delhi Wine Club. I’m on panel of Judges in International Wine Challenge (London) and Michelangelo Wine and Spirits Awards (South Africa). I believe in the tagline : Wine Connects.
